“I’ve got to tell you the truth – the kitchen was a major part of the reason we bought our house,” Cheyenne said. “I grew up in a very traditional home, with that country kitchen. Mom loved apples, so there were apples everywhere, and lots of natural wood. When I saw this modern kitchen, with the clean lines and all this openness, it just spoke to me.” She laughed. “But I also don’t cook as much as my Mom did, and at that point in my life, I didn’t have kids.”
Now with three teenage boys, the Weston homeowner “is in the kitchen constantly” now. “And if it’s not me, it’s my sons, and let me tell you, they are not great at cleaning up after themselves.”
An easy-to-clean kitchen can come in any style, whether that’s classic, country, modern, or anything else. The key is selecting surfaces and finishes that are durable enough to stand up to the demands your family will put on it and require minimal maintenance. Part of the value of working with a Weston kitchen designer is they will help you pick countertops, flooring, cabinetry and appliances that fulfill your aesthetic goals and work with your family’s lifestyle needs.
“Matthew, my youngest, is a stress baker,” Cheyenne said. “So when we do renovate the kitchen – which has been a back-burner plan for a while now – we’re going to make sure he’s got a dedicated work area, with some storage for those ingredients, and the baking pans that really don’t need to be mixed in with my regular cooking pans, and probably the Kitchen-Aid – I don’t know if I want to give that up, though!”
You may already know the look you want your kitchen to have. And this prolonged time home with our families is teaching everyone to appreciate how they need their kitchen to perform. A kitchen renovation is a great project to look forward to, especially when your kids are at the age where they’re learning to cook & care for themselves.
