Our Process

We simplify a complex process, without compromising quality and attention to detail, cutting time not corners.

Step one:

Onboarding

Discovery Phase Once we receive your request, we’ll call to learn your initial thoughts on the project, including preferred construction dates, investment range, and when you might be ready to move forward.

We’ll ask you to provide photos for your project development specialist who, with these and the project overview in hand, will schedule a 30-60 minute virtual meeting.

This provides a chance to go into further detail, ask questions, discuss budget expectations and timelines, and see if we’re a good fit. If you’re not quite ready to move forward, we’ll keep your information on file to happily reopen if anything changes! If you do choose to partner with us, we’ll arrange an in-home meeting.

In-Home Meeting Our in-home assessment typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on project type and complexity. To ensure everyone’s on the same page, decision makers must be at this meeting and all others going forward.

We’ll clarify any remaining questions, measure, take pictures and gather further details for a retainer agreement, collecting a 10% or 20% deposit (pending scope of work) at this time. Your project development specialist will then schedule a signing meeting.

Signing Meeting Held virtually or in person with all decision makers and the project development specialist, this meeting is to answer any outstanding questions and review your retainer to make any last updates or edits. Once signed, the design phase can start!

Step two:

Design

Your design team manager will create an online hub for all documents and communications, followed by a design launch meeting at your home with your project specialist and design team. Site measurements will be taken to create a computer-aided design (CAD) rendering of the entire structure or relevant portion. Next comes the development of one or more schematic conceptual designs (this varies by project).

After your selection and written approval of one schematic design, we’ll provide preliminary pre-design pricing, including scope of work details and allowance budgets. The schematic design and 3D renderings will then be fine tuned as needed. Your lead designers will collaborate with you on specifications and selection of all finish materials.

After site visits by the sub-contractors to assess the project’s scope and secure accurate pricing, final design scope and costs will be provided for your written approval. Your project is now ready for its next exciting phase with our production team.

Step three:

Build

Pre-Construction Typically 2-4 weeks after your design approval, the final contract will be provided for you to sign. Materials will be ordered, though if needed, items with a long lead time may be ordered pre-contract.

Permits will then be obtained, usually within 2-4 weeks, depending on project type and locale. Construction will usually commence within 1 to 3 months after signing the final contract.

During Construction A meeting at your home/site with your site supervisor will mark the launch of construction. As enjoyable as we aim to make the steps up to this stage, the best is yet to come.

Good communication is the key to a successful construction process. Your site supervisor will keep you updated every step of the way through your online hub along with routine meetings and calls. We understand how stressful it is to have people working in your home, so we make every effort to help you understand what to expect and how to deal with the day to day work flow of construction.

As the project comes to a close, your site supervisor will schedule a final walk through to ensure you are satisfied with every aspect of the job before we call it complete.

Post Construction Our goal is to build a lasting, lifetime relationship with each of our clients. Our favorite part of every project is the post-construction visit, where we get to see the final results (hugs are welcome—we’re used to it!). More importantly, after the successful completion of a project, we want you to know that we’re just a call or email away for any support you may need.
