Marble, granite, and quartize countertops all have their fans, but have you ever thought about having a beautiful piece of stone installed as a backsplash? What about using these beautiful, vibrant, durable materials to accent the walls, to define a seating area, or to make a bump out or seating nook extra special?
As Milton kitchen remodeling designers, one of the most exciting trends we’re seeing is people opening up to the idea that marble’s not just for countertops any more. Stone is a classic building material that can be used in multiple ways. In some homes, we’re seeing natural stone tiles being used to evoke the classic sea-side feel that makes South Shore homes so comfortable. In other homes, the same stone, with a slightly different finish, used to create a very high end bespoke finish to the kitchen.
Planning Your Kitchen Remodel: What To Do Now
As you’re probably aware, the 2020 pandemic created some delays in shipping building materials. Now that things are starting to get back to normal, people are extremely eager to remodel their homes. We’re currently booking jobs in 2022. That means you have a little bit of time to enjoy what is often the most pleasurable part of the remodeling process: the planning. For example, as we’re talking about natural stone elements in the kitchen, look for examples of it being used in thick profile countertops, on islands, and even wrapped around hoods.
Pinterest continues to remain a top source of design inspiration, as does Instagram. Don’t feel like you have to be limited to the home decor space when searching for inspiration. As Milton kitchen designers, we are inspired and challenged when homeowners bring us a favorite photograph or piece of art and say “Design us a room around this”. Functionality and beauty go hand in hand to create a wonderful new kitchen.
