“I think if I learned anything during 2020, it’s that I have to be much more intentional about how I spend my time,” Sonja said. “It’s easy to get caught up trying to take care of everything and having absolutely no time for yourself. Now that we are renovating the house, I want to create a kitchen addition that’s a sanctuary – a peaceful place where I can enjoy myself.”
Sonja is an avid baker, so she worked with her Milton kitchen designer to create a floorplan to accommodate her passion. “On a day to day, get dinner on the table basis, the new kitchen has a very practical, efficient set up. Everything you need to make a quick, healthy meal is literally within reach. I love it,” she explained. “But then, at the end of the counter, there’s a new nook for my second oven, the stand mixer, and a marble countertop that’s perfect for pastry.”
“What I love about this space is that it faces away from the rest of the house,” Sonja said. “There’s nothing to distract me. I can just focus on my latest recipe – last night it was a frangipane torte that would knock your socks off – without getting interrupted. The family knows this is my way to unwind and destress. And how does that saying go – if Mama’s not happy, nobody’s happy?”
The best local Milton kitchen renovation company is now booking jobs in early 2024. “If you’re thinking about upgrading, I’d definitely go ahead and take the leap,” Sonja said. “You don’t have to have your plans finalized to get the process started – but knowing that the job is going to start within a certain time frame does help you get clear about what you do and do not want in your new kitchen.”
