Cooking Thanksgiving Dinner Can Reveal The Truth About Your Kitchen’s Design Flaws

November 10, 2020 //  by admin

Many, many people are planning kitchen remodeling projects right now, because life during COVID has revealed to them that their current kitchen layout doesn’t suit their family’s needs. Well, get ready, because cooking Thanksgiving dinner can reveal things about your kitchen that you may never have considered before.

For example: how many people can cook comfortably in your kitchen?

While the family may have no problem leaving you alone in the kitchen for the months and months of making dinner that we’ve just been through, when Thanksgiving comes around, cooking is suddenly fun and everyone wants to help. Take note of how well this works in your kitchen this year. Would it be nice to have a little more space for meal prep, cooking, and clean up?

Another great question: how much food can you cook at once?

Do you currently have the oven capacity for a Thanksgiving turkey and the must-have side dishes like sweet potatoes and green bean casserole? What about the stove top – can you handle the veggies and gravies and everything else that needs a burner? Take a critical glance at refrigerator and freezer performance over the course of the holiday. Do you have enough storage for dry ingredients?

Finally: do you enjoy being in your kitchen?

Cooking Thanksgiving dinner with your family is the stuff memories are made of. Your kitchen is simply the setting where the magic happens. The more you enjoy your kitchen, both in terms of what it looks like and how it functions, the more fun you’ll have in general. Add in the fun of family togetherness and all of the tasty Thanksgiving treats, it’ll be a holiday to remember.

After the Holiday: Before You Call Your Milton Kitchen Contractor

On the morning after Thanksgiving, while you’re contemplating whether or not a piece of pumpkin pie qualifies as a healthy breakfast (spoiler alert: it totally does) make some notes about how well your kitchen did or didn’t work for you during the challenge of cooking a large family meal. It may be that you’d like to have more oven capacity when you’re entertaining, or that a more open floor plan could make cooking with your sweetie less aggravating. These notes will help you as you’re creating and finalizing your kitchen remodel plans.
