Interior Spaces – The Importance of a Professional Painter for Quality Interior Painting

December 6, 2013 by Perry Becker Leave a Comment

When it comes to interior painting, a good paint job is the foundation of any interior space.  It is the backdrop from which we build the room.  As an interior designer, I understand the importance of the quality of a good paint job.  When you walk into a room, there is an immediate sense of whether it is put together well or not.  Regardless of the quality of the furnishings and their arrangement, if the painting is sub-par, the room feels sloppy or unfinished.

Why Choose a Professional Painter for Your Interior Painting Needs?

Many homeowners assume they can save on the labor costs and perform interior house painting themselves with the same outcome as a professional painter.   While there are always exceptions, the majority of people simply don’t know the proper steps, don’t do the research or they don’t have the experience required.   An experienced house painter knows that a good paint job will depend on all of the following elements and all done correctly:

• Preparing the surface – imperfections show.  Using the right tools in the right   situations is what a trained professional knows.

• Application – straight, clean lines are the result of years of experience.

• Using the right products – different surfaces and finish expectations require different products.  The professional knows the differences.  Benjamin Moore premium products such as Regal and Aura are two excellent choices for your ceilings, walls, and trim.

Further, a local professional painter has the patience required to achieve the meticulous, clean look that a designed space must have in order to play off the other elements in the design.   More often than not, homeowners tackling an interior painting project themselves run out of patience with the process, run out of time, cut corners and ultimately settle for a lesser quality job.

In short, hire a professional painter whenever possible.  Don’t try to do it yourself.   It is a specialized trade with experience required.

I am lucky – the painters here at Masters Touch are all seasoned professionals with many years of experience!  When I design spaces, I already know the backdrop will be perfect!  These guys are excellent and they are all great people as well.

Once you have decided to hire a professional painter for your interior painting needs, the color is the next important decision.   But, that’s another story for another day!
