“We love living in Milton,” Stacy said. “We love our house. We love our neighbors. So when our family grew, we decided to have an addition built. Our builders were great – very knowledgeable and easy to work with – but it was still a learning experience. Here are the three things I wish I’d known before having a home addition built:
#1: Don’t Put Limits on Your Imagination
“When I knew we were expecting, all I could think about was adding bedroom space,” Stacy explained. “But in the process of working with our Milton home addition builders, they opened our eyes to the possibilities. When you’re building an addition, you really have a blank slate to create anything you want. So in addition to the new nursery, we built a playroom for all the kids to enjoy, as well as lots of storage and a home office so I can work during naptime without having to be too far away.”
#2: Make Sure You’re Happy With Your Plan Before the Building Starts
“It took us some time to create our plan, and I was really impatient to have the new space ready before the baby arrived,” Stacy said. “Which means that when we decided after the building started to add the home office to the addition it complicated the project & impacted the budget.”
#3: Plan On Having a Party to Show Everyone Your New Space
“Our new additions – the space and of course the baby – were big topics of conversation with our family and friends. So when the new addition was completed, they were curious to see how it looked. Talk about a perfect opportunity to have a get together! It was such a joy showing everyone our new space – especially since miraculously we were able to do this before our toddlers put their mark on it!”
