  • Project: Whole House Remodel
  • Town: Westwood, MA

The clients purchased this home just before the homeowner’s found out they were pregnant with their second child. Their main need was simple—get us into this house before the baby comes.
However, the clients didn’t want to just “get into the house.” The wanted the house to be completely done top to bottom to suit their taste and needs.

They wanted:
• a kitchen that would accommodate chef-inspired appliances
• an open concept living area, suitable for entertaining
• a mix of dramatic and timeless finishes to make their new home their dream home

Because the existing house was so run down, every interior finish needed to be replaced. There wasn’t a spot inside this house that was untouched. After all the wallpaper was stripped, the stained carpet was removed, and the walls and windows were reconfigured, it was time to start incorporating the mix of dramatic and timeless finishes these clients wanted. In the kitchen, white cabinets, quartz counters, gray subway backsplash tile (with an awesome herringbone detail at the stove), sparkly pendant lights, and the pot filler are some of the details of this space that help to make it the dream kitchen for the clients. The dark hardwood floors that flow throughout the first floor provide a great contrast to the bright white trim work in the home. Striking finishes, such as the blue and white geometric wallpaper in the powder room, the ledge stone at the fireplace, the deep navy walls in the living room, and the shimmering pendant lights over the kitchen island help to distinguish this remodel from others.
