This remodeled kitchen is a perfect representation of the mix of classic styling and eclectic interest. Traditional white Shaker inset cabinets and hand scraped mid-tone maple hardwood floors speak to the classic side, while faux cowhide stools, charcoal gray glass backsplash tile, and industrial light fixtures appeal to the eclectic side.
Due to improper framing from the previous builder, structural work needed to be done in the kitchen. That allowed for the opportunity to vault the ceilings, which the clients jumped all over. The 54” hood is suspended from those high ceilings, adding tons of drama, as well as function, to the space.
The new maple flooring in the kitchen carries into the family room, so the kitchen no longer feels disjointed from the rest of the open-concept space.
With uniformity in the floors and diversity in the wall colors, the new space flows with its surrounding rooms and makes this part of the first floor feel like one great room. The use of high contrast, mixed materials, classic elements, and purist functionality make this kitchen perfect for the homeowners.
